Eli VandenBerg is an artist living and working in Philadelphia, PA. Through portraits of both body and objects he studies how identity is constructed and modified. These images record the shifting realities of his own identity, both physical and social, and provide a complex portrait of gender and personal identity.
Eli received his BFA in Printmaking from Arcadia University and his MFA in Printmaking at Pratt Institute. His work has been shown both nationally and internationally, including The National Queer Arts Festival, San Francisco, CA; Femina Potens Gallery, San Francisco, CA, Off The Wall Gallery; Philadelphia, PA and The William Way GLBT Community Center in both their 30th Anniversary exhibition and a solo show in winter of 2009. His work has also appeared in several books and journals including the anthology Self-Organizing Men: Conscious Masculinities in Time and Space published in 2006 by Homofactus Press and in Chroma: A Queer Literary Journal, London, UK. His work is included in many public and private collections including the Print and Picture Collection of the Free Library of Philadelphia.
